Originally described by John Matson and Mike Rieser, this one- to two-hour class teaches beginners and fishing guides a simple method to false cast and do a pickup and laydown cast. On completion of the class most participants will be able to false cast loops adequate for fishing. |

Students should bring a 5- to 7-weight medium fast, balanced fly rod and reel, and spooled with a brightly colored weight forward fly line with a 7½-foot tapered leader with a 0.015-sized tippet. They must wear eye protection. In case of rain, bring rain gear and proper shoes to keep feet dry. |
